The problem we are working on

Commercial pollination depends on timing and coordination. A crop's flowering period changes with weather; the grower decides when colonies can be released; the beekeeper must schedule people and vehicles; and the field crew needs a usable entrance when it arrives.

Our first product focus

Bee GPS is working with Alberta participants on a written workflow for bloom outlooks, colony release updates and pre-trip access checks. We want the first useful version to be guided by the people who make these decisions on real farms.

Our background

Zolena Lab has also explored environmental information for choosing a new bee yard. That is a separate site-selection research track. The Bee GPS Alberta pilot described on this website focuses on pollination operations.
